While travelling, if authentic cultural experiences are what you seek, there’s nothing better than heading to a gig and trying your new lingo with the locals.  That’s exactly what Matt did the first time he went to Spain, using tools like Spotify to find some bands he could go and see when he got there. (Hot tip: Use the ‘Suggested Artists’ function to find artists.)

Spain’s rock scene is sweeping, with many great bands performing at any moment around the country. This playlist showcases the diversity within 'alternative rock' a genre that is predominantly contemporary yet still connects with Spain’s greater musical roots and traditions.

This playlists includes songs along the lines of rock, indie-rock, punk, garage and some funky pop. Some notable inclusions are Los Punsetes and Juanita y Los Feos, two girl-fronted bands with great, punchy songs. Extraperlo too, who may sound slightly odd, but put out some interesting songs and have been produced by El Guincho.
