What are our classes like?

Classes are fun and social with a teacher who knows how to teach languages! You'll be in a group with other like-minded people who are all wanting to learn and improve.

Students say ...

  • After becoming frustrated at my lack of progress with their competitor, I recieved a recommendation for the classes at El Patio. Since enrolling I have never looked back, the teachers are knowledgeable, the students are great, the classes are fun, and my Spanish quickly improved enough to converse confidently with the locals when I arrived in Latin America - Angela Hayhurst

  • Over the almost three years at El Patio I would like to say a big thank-you to all my teachers … and the rest of the El Patio team for inspiring me with their love of language, patience in explaining new ideas and most importantly making learning Spanish fun - Estelle Kamp

  • I'd like to take this opportunity to say that we've really enjoyed learning Spanish with El Patio, and we've been very impressed with the quality of the teachers - Lindsay Hussey

Spanish Bookmarks: lectura y conversación

Would you like to read in Spanish? Get ready to immerse yourself in language and literature!

Discover some of the most influential authors in Hispanic literature on a journey through poetry, short stories, and essays. Play with the words of Gabriela Mistral’s poetic flow, get enchanted by Isabel Allende’s fiction, involve yourself in Valeria Luiselli’s contemporary reflections.

During three 90 minutes sessions, we’ll read and analyse texts, play with the dictionary, and of course, speak Spanish!

Don't worry about buying hundreds of books, we’ll provide you a dossier with the original texts and translations once you enrol. Here is a sneak peak at the program:

  • Gabriela Mistral and her poem “Besos”.
  • Isabel Allende and her short story “Dos palabras”, from Los cuentos de Eva Luna
  • Valeria Luiselli, “Frontera”, from Los niños perdidos

This workshop is suitable for students from levels Lower Intermediate 1 to Upper Intermediate 2.
